Toyota and Subaru specialist departments are commemorating ten years on the road with a very special, and probably extremely limited, model that is headed to Australia.
The new Subaru BRZ edition commemorates a decade after Subaru’s version of the joint-venture sports car debuted on sale, with minor cosmetic and interior improvements. It was unveiled alongside a 10th-anniversary version of the related Toyota GR86.
The Subaru specialist variant receives blue inside stitching, deeper metallic accents, and blue-black ultrasuede seats in addition to 18-inch matte black aluminium wheels, black badges, and mirror covers. They also needed to include an additional sticker on the rear window to let anyone gazing know, it isn’t just a standard BRZ.

A new 2.4-liter naturally aspirated flat-four engine with outputs of 174kW and 250Nm (up from 152kW/212Nm) provides more power, replacing the previous 2.0-liter engine.
A lot of people, including myself, have wondered when we will receive a turbocharged BRZ/GR86. Because the redline of the naturally aspirated engine is greater than that of the turbocharged engine (7,000 rpm), more aggressive gearing is possible. Also, since there is no turbo to account for, they are able to keep the centre of gravity low and the weight down.
Despite the BRZ engine’s lesser output than its turbocharged siblings, it should result in a more potent and go kart sensation around the twisties.
When you consider that the sports coupe only weights about 1250kg, these are quite respectable numbers.
Both an automatic and a six-speed manual with rear-wheel drive are available to buyers.
Subaru will be releasing more details later in the year closer to its launch, and believe me Eblen Collision will be keeping an eye out for it.
