Currently, a modern high-end car’s software can contain up to 100 million lines of code. To put this in comparison with other vehicles, a Boeing 787’s software contains just over 10 million lines of code, while the Mars Rover contains just 5 million lines of code!
To the casual observer it may appear that vehicles may have assumed new shapes and colours, but otherwise have not changed significantly, this is certainly not the case. Substrates, materials, on board computer and refinish systems have all seen great advancement, and repair has had to advance accordingly.
To understand and excel in the repair of today’s modern vehicles requires the latest equipment, ongoing investment in education and training, along with a passion to stay at the leading edge of repair methodology.
