New A.I, More Subaru Safety

Subaru safety has been at the forefront for years, consistently bringing features and driver assist technology to their vehicles. The company has just announced it’s adding new A.I. based features to the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which will be available on Subaru models around 2025.

How Will Artificial Intelligence Be Implemented?

The upcoming iteration of Subaru’s vision-based EyeSight advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) will be powered by technology from Xilinx, Inc.

The high-performance, low latency, and functional safety capabilities that the EyeSight system needs to accurately represent and respond to dynamic driving scenarios are provided by the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ multi-processor.

The updated EyeSight technology, will offer big updates to cutting-edge capabilities including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assistance, and pre-collision braking.

The existing stereo camera system positioned on the windscreen, which among other functions may “identify, minimise or even avoid crashes,” will be enhanced by this new technology. The system uses cameras to detect objects in front of you on the road and react accordingly.

According to reports, over-the-air upgrades will be supported by future iterations of the EyeSight driver assistance system.

The driver assist technology, called EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, has been available in the Subaru Outback and other Subaru models, like the Forester and the Legacy for years.

EyeSight is a driver assist technology that uses cameras to detect the presence of other vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists. It can also detect traffic signals and help maintain a safe distance from other vehicles in front of you.

EyeSight uses two forward-looking infrared cameras with wide-angle lenses that are located in the driver side windshield pillar and passenger side windshield pillar.

The system monitors for lane drift (drifting across lanes without signalling), follows vehicles ahead when changing lanes and warns drivers if they begin to wander out of their lane without indicating properly first.

EyeSight also works with blind spot detection sensors on both sides of your vehicle to alert you to nearby objects while driving at low speeds like parking or backing up.

Where Does It All Lead?

EyeSight is impressive, but Subaru is far from done with its safety innovations. In fact, the automaker has already announced that EyeSight will continue getting smarter when it gets AI-based technology, Even detecting pedestrians who step out into traffic at night without warning lights or reflectors on their clothing or bicycles.

Subaru plans to innovate as part of its “New Mobility Concept,” which aims to integrate AI into all aspects of how people interact with their cars — not just for safety measures like automatic braking but also for entertainment features like streaming video from inside your car while you’re parked at home or work.
